April 9th, 2005 at The Florida State University
presented by The Society for Women's Advancement in Philosophy
This conference went smashingly, and we are now in the process of including conference goodies. Do check out the papers section above to see an online copy of the papers presented (and check back frequently, as we are in the middle of the process of posting them all). There is also a photo album of the conference day, spotlighting all of our charming and brilliant guests. Stay tuned to the S.W.A.P. homepage (or join the S.W.A.P. mailing list) for information about next year's conference (which we are currently planning).
About the Conference
The primary goal of the this conference is to promote diversity in the area of philosophy and to promote philosophical issues focused on minority issues. The conference is an opportunity for graduate students to participate in an activity that is expected from philosophers once they begin their professional careers, as well as to share the newest research in minority topics with others. We also hope to reach undergraduate students with the intention of introducing them to philosophy, formal arguments concerning minority issues, and to encourage them to think about matters and questions concerning diversity in life and thinking.
As a newly formed graduate student organization, this is the first S.W.A.P. sponsored conference. We hope this will become an annual event, further promoting philosophy in minority issues. Please visit the S.W.A.P. website for further information about our organization.
